Anna Skrypka is an interesting person. She has everything going for her, she’s beautiful, she has several university degrees, including a masters and a Ph.D., and she’s an in-demand Hollywood movie producer, who has feature films, short movies, web series, commercials and music videos to her credit. Apparently, she also has a conscience and she thinks about others.
She was telling us the other day how she firmly believes that everyone deserves a chance and should be given opportunities. She feels that if people have talent, then they should be able to succeed in whatever they want to do with their lives. Of course, Anna also believes that everything is possible if you just keep trying and never give up. Words of wisdom.
She moved to Los Angeles just a few short years ago from Kharkiv, Ukraine, and almost immediately began to produce some very successful shorts and features. Waves, the full-length movie she produced is American-Filipino production in the Philippines has seen wide release in that neck of the woods and is being readied to be seen all over the world. It’s getting terrific reviews and is building a very large fan base. Anna and the director of Waves, Don Gerardo Frasco, are in pre-production for another American-Filipino production to be filmed in 2017. Anna is also developing a feature film script which focuses on a young Ukrainian girl who is caught in the seemingly inescapable web of horrors of forced prostitution. The film will show what hell is really like on Earth and will follow the girl from being kidnapped to ultimately escaping with other innocents.
Anna has a full plate but she is always starting new projects even before the one she’s working on is completed. I believe you could call that “very good time management.” You could also call it a high level of professionalism and drive to get as many projects off the ground as possible while you can. “Robert Redford said something that, although he meant it in a different context, it certainly applies to Ms. Skrypka: “If you can do more…you should.” And that’s just what Anna is doing – more; more than just about any other producer in the business.
She’s got one of the most successful and well received web series airing right now on YouTube; she has several features in development and she is thinking about the talented young people back home in Ukraine who deserve a chance to get some hands on experience in the film world. Anna is working on a scholarship program for film students in Ukraine that would allow them come to L.A. and train on real movie sets at real film companies. She is also working on rounding up some well-known filmmakers to share their experiences in the form of lectures, at Universities in Ukraine. Such a good idea from such an interesting producer! Bravo!
