It’s always a pleasure catching up with the greats of the acting world and the UK’s Cassandra Hodges is one of them. We recently caught up with the extremely talented and witty, Brit Cassandra Hodges, for a little Q&A. Between her busy work schedule and planning her wedding, it was great to be able to steal a little of her time while she was free. She was happy to share some of her experiences inside the acting world, her favorite role to date and some of her upcoming projects. Here is what she haf to share:
Please introduce yourself to the readers and how and when did you first get into performing?
My name is Cassandra Hodges and I started performing with the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain when I was 16 years old. I then attended Saturday classes at the world famous RADA. (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art).
What inspired you to get into this industry?
I trained as a ballet dancer when I was a child at RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) and always enjoyed being on stage. When I decided not to take the dancer route due to injuries, acting seemed like the most logical route.
What kind of training have you had, if any?
I took a drama degree at Sussex University then trained as an actor at Drama Studio London
What has been your favorite role to play so far?
I played Queen Elizabeth 1 in More Light by Snoo Wilson. I have always wanted to play her and it was wonderful to work with one of my favorite playwrights.
What has been one of the biggest achievements of your career so far?
I think it was acting in the film London Road with (Tom Hardy, Olivia Coleman). This was such a creative film to be involved in and was directed by Rufus Norris. It was a musical and I was in the iconic scene where the police turn up to investigate the road.
What projects do you have coming up?
I have just been cast in a feature film shooting later this year where I am playing Jane Bennett. It is an adaptation of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It’s a new project with Advantage Pictures and will be directed by Nikolai Galitzine.
If you had a choice, who would you most like to work with?
I have always wanted to work with Judi Dench, she’s one of my heroes! I adore her and would love to appear alongside her. Also, my cousin is a fabulous actress Julia Foster (Alfie, Half a Sixpence) and I would like to work with her.
What are your plans for the future?
I am hoping to audition for more US TV dramas and keep doing what I love. I am also hoping to start organizing my wedding next year finally! I have been very busy with projects
What is your advice to aspiring performers?
Work hard and be yourself. It’s easy to get caught up in the wrong side of the industry. You need to remain an individual and keep a life outside of it. Everyone has a different path and idea of what success is and means to them.
